Air quality is a big issue not just outside but indoors in our homes too.

Airthings, the indoor air quality specialists, this week announced the release of its Wave Plus smart radon, CO2 and TVOCs sensor. The Wave Plus also detects temperature, humidity and even air pressure. All combined into an easy to read dashboard with real time notifications.

You are probably asking yourself what is Radon and why do I care?!

Radon is a colourless radioactive gas, it is formed by the radioactive decay of small amounts of uranium that naturally occur in all rocks and soil.

Normally Radon causes no issues as the amount in the air outside is so low, however when it builds up inside it can become a problem and even fatal. Recent research suggests more people in the UK die from Radon than house fires and carbon monoxide poisoning combined!

“We are the market leader in radon detection and have focused on radon for the past 10 years. For us, it is a natural progression to move into the broader air quality space. We’re eager to empower people with awareness and understanding of the most dangerous indoor air pollutants and excited to announce an easy solution for people to monitor them in any populated space, either at work, school, or at home.”

Wave Plus is the first wirelessly connected and battery-operated indoor air quality monitor with radon detection. The detector is self-install and runs on 2-AA batteries.

It also integrates with IFTTT, Alexa and Google Assistant.

Airthings Wave Plus is available for £239 from Airthings direct or from Amazon. For more information visit Airthings.com
